It’s a Wrap!

On a cold fall Saturday morning, we met to celebrate completion of the Essential Workers of the Pullman Neighborhood mural. The youth came, some with their parents. There were a couple of board members, Pullman neighbors, and the former Arts Manager for the City of Richmond came by to see the mural. The students received certificates handed out by Lorena Castillo and Caleb Turner, from Groundwork Richmond. And I gave a little speech thanking all the volunteers and staff who helped make this project possible as well as our funders the East Bay Community Foundation, and the City of Richmond.

The celebration was socially-distanced and quick. We were done in less than an hour. The students went to admire the mural and commented on what they liked. Some hadn’t been by the park since their past painting session two months ago and were surprised at the final version of the mural.

I truly had a fantastic time working with Groundwork Richmond and appreciate everything they did to ensure we could finish safely and on time. There are some fantastic photos in this article by the Richmond Standard, and this interview that the Watershed Project published in their newsletter will give you the "real scoop."
